Total Fitness
E-book
As a coach (or a player),
you
already know that soccer fitness training has become a crucial factor
in today's game and seeing professional players it's pretty much a
necessity. Even players that don't have a naturally good build, like
Lionel Messi, Ivan Genaro Gattuso or Cesc Fabregas are still very fit
and more than make up in strength what they lack in size.
Ask any coach and he'll tell you that even if a player lacks natural
talent, he can more than make up for this through great soccer conditioning
and fitness and be useful to the team. One of the best examples that
come into my mind right now is Javier Mascherano from FC Liverpool, who
has himself stated that he is not very talented, but he makes up for
this through his endurance and work rate, which are both effects of a
good soccer conditioning.
I studied and used several soccer fitness programs throughout my
playing days and I was curious to see how current players train for
soccer conditioning, so I skimmed around the Internet for some
information. As it happened, I stumbled across what seemed to be a
solid E-book pack, called the Total
Soccer Fitness. The main book in
the pack is called Total Soccer Fitness and is written by Phil Davies,
one of the brightest fitness gurus in England.
The main book in the pack is pretty well structured, which is a great
boon today, when we're covered with messy books or E-books written in
haste for the sake of profit. The first impression was good, but I was
eager to get through the content fast.
The E-book is divided into several sections regarding soccer fitness and
soccer conditioning, including aerobic endurance conditioning, strength
and power, speed and agility, flexibility, warm-up and cool-down
exercises and theory and a section that teaches you how to test you
fitness' progress and results.
The book is sprinkled with tables and images that give you a clearer
view on the exercises and everything is explained up to the smallest
detail. The fact that similar sections are linked together (for example
speed and agility or strength and power) is of great help in seeing
exactly how these soccer fundamentals work together.
One other thing that I found extremely
interesting in the book is that it doesn't give you the
data just for the sake of it, everything is written from a player's
perspective on the playing field. For example, one area of the aerobic
conditioning section contained some very interesting information on
activity breakdown during a full soccer match for players on different
positions, based on several scientific tests.
So it was quite nice finding out that defenders can afford to walk on
the pitch 36% of their playing time, while forwards do so only 29% of
their total activity, or that a midfielder sprints for 11% of his
entire running time, while a defender sprints for only 6%. It's details
like these that make the E-book great and help put soccer fitness
training into a match perspective.
The
Total Soccer Fitness pack also comes with 5 separate free
E-books:
Soccer
Exercise Library
Total
Fitness for Juniors

Basically what you have here is
a coach's delight, since these books cover all aspects that you need to
take care of when training a soccer player, in terms of soccer
conditioning and getting them fit for match day both physically and
mentally.
You can put to practice many of the fitness drills
contained in the E-books and the results will be visible in a short
time, because everything in the book is designed to be as effective as
possible. Even if you're not a coach and you're simply a soccer parent,
you may want to get this E-book pack for your kid, helping him get
better at the game he loves.
